We're back!
Team Moon River paddled for nearly 15 hours last year from Windsor to the mouth of the Hawkesbury River, and yes, we are going to have another go this year!
If you've ever wondered what it might be like to paddle 100km down the Hawkesbury River at night, you can find out the easy way: Sponsor us and you can follow our GPS Tracker live - OK, you don't have to sit up all night but you might find yourself checking in to see how far our little dot has moved along the map!
Richard has made this trip 42 times and is also known for being the first person to paddle from Australia to New Zealand, solo, non-stop and unassisted, in his custom-built ocean kayak BLUE MOON. Last year was my first time on the Hawkesbury and without the excitement of First Time, I'm expecting it to be tougher this year.
We first met 'virtually' when Richard was on his first attemp to cross the Tasman. I followed his journey online, enjoying his daily updates, and continuing to follow his second successful crossing. We met in person after that record-breaking trip when he brought some of his support team to Sweers Island in the Gulf of Carpentaria, including his logistics wizard Annette Dawson, who was training hard to do the Hawkesbury with Richard this year, having successfully paddled it with him nearly 10 years ago.  Unfortunately Annette has had to withdraw so I'm filling in for her and hopefully we do her proud and make it safely to Brooklyn Bridge!
All participants raise at least $200 for the Arrow Foundation (bone marrow and stem cell treatment & research) and we are encouraged to raise more if possible. This Foundation is dedicated to helping medical researchers find better treatments - and hopefully one day cures - for diseases treatable by bone marrow and stem cell transplants, including leukaemia, lymphoma and auto-immune diseases. In 2025, the paddlers raised over $90,000 contributing to a total of $4.5 million raised over 30 years.
Please click here and contribute what you can to this worthy cause.  Then sit back, relax, and be glad that it's not your bum on that plastic seat, surely a small price to pay for some laughs at our expense! :-)
Please also share this link with family and friends - the more sponsorship we can raise, the more worthwhile will be the blisters...

Thank you -

Lyn Battle & Richard Barnes

Team Moon River

Note:  As donations are made in real time to a registered charity, they cannot be refunded if for some reason we can't complete the paddle or the event is cancelled for some reason, but rest assured we will be expecting to finish in our usual style and all donations are tax deductable and going to a very worthy cause - Lyn :-)
